The Sisters Library features 8,300 square feet of space, all housed in an exterior design that includes a partial wraparound porch with the Western appearance for which Sisters is famous. Though the building itself was constructed in 2005, Sisters has a tradition of library service that goes back decades.
In addition to a robust selection of books, DVDs, and other materials, the library also offers public computers as well as children’s story times and adult programming in the community meeting room. The interior, which was extensively remodeled in 2023, features vaulted ceilings and an electric fireplace that creates a cozy reading area. A children’s discovery space encourages imaginative play and learning. Free WiFi is available throughout the building.

Learn about the different types of child abuse and signs to recognize.
This is an online program. Registration is required. This program will not be recorded.
We'll discuss what kinds of cases are referred to KIDS Center for evaluations. We'll also talk about different prevention strategies we can do in our daily lives. This presentation is ideal for organizations, businesses, or groups that are interested in learning more about the types of abuse present in our community and what we can do to protect kids and families.
KIDS Center is a medical model Children's Advocacy Center (CAC) providing child abuse evaluations that include a head-to-toe medical exam, child-friendly forensic interview, family advocacy, and mental health services to children and families impacted by abuse. In addition, our services include prevention programs to help teach adults in our community how to better protect children from abuse.
Children are referred for a KIDS Center evaluation by one of four community partners including law enforcement, DHS Child Welfare, medical providers, and licensed mental health professionals. Children and families can engage in KIDS Center advocacy and mental health services without participating in an evaluation. All of KIDS Center services are provided at no cost.

1:00 PM - Tuesday - Suttle Tea
Discuss Liliana's Invincible Summer by Cristina Rivera Garza.
In the early hours of July 16, 1990, Liliana Rivera Garza was murdered by her abusive ex-boyfriend. A life full of promise and hope, cut tragically short, Liliana's story instead became subsumed into Mexico's dark and relentless history of domestic violence. With Liliana's case file abandoned by a corrupt criminal justice system, her family, including her older sister Cristina, was forced to process their grief and guilt in private, without any hope for justice. A memoir decades in the making, Liliana's Invincible Summer tells a singular yet universally resonant story: that of a spirited, wondrously romantic young woman who tried to survive in a world of increasingly normalized gendered violence.
Pick up a book at Suttle Tea, Sisters Library or email paigeb@deschuteslibrary.org to request a book.
